Past LGBT+ work

We have also funded other LGBT+ projects, prior to our current funding programme running from 2018. Find out more about them below.

Opening Doors London

Opening Doors London (ODL) is the largest specialist provider of health and wellbeing support for older LGBT+ people in the UK. As a membership organisation, they provide regular social groups and opportunities, whist lobbying and campaigning for older LGBT+ people, aged over 50, across all London boroughs.

In 2016, Trust for London awarded ODL funding to work towards promoting the voice, visibility and participation of older LGBT+ people to influence and ensure services are accessible and ‘safe’. This also helped them to campaign for LGBT+ friendly services, providing training and resources to service providers whilst encouraging existing LGBT+ services to consider the needs of older people.

Gendered Intelligence

Gendered Intelligence works to improve the lives of transgender people and young trans people. They look to increase understandings of gender diversity among parents, teachers, other professionals and the wider general public.

In 2017, Trust for London provided funding to support Gendered Intelligence’s work to improve equality by influencing decision makers. They worked with individual organisations and at the level of government to change policy and practice to practically improve the lives of young trans people, particularly focusing their efforts in the areas of education and sport.

Galop is London’s LGBT+ anti-violence and abuse charity. They have 34 years experience of providing specialist support to LGBT+ victims of hate crime, whilst campaigning for the rights of LGBT+ people.

Through Trust for London funding in 2016, they were able to deliver a project for trans victims of violence, abuse and discrimination. This influenced how trans victims and witnesses were treated in the criminal justice system, removing barriers to justice and improving access to services.
